geoDiskEdit is a GEOS128 disk sector editor.This
program supports all 15XX drives and both 40 and
80 column modes. This program can be operated
using menus or the optional keyboard shortcuts.
Printers, REUs, and Desk Acc. are not supported in
this release (V1.0).
These help screens operate using the 'More'
menu item to continue, and the exit icon to quit
back to the main program.
I hope you find this program useful. Mike.
The main screen is divided into 3 sections:
1. On the left side is the largest section. It is used
to show the data in the current disk block.
2. On the right is information about the block.
This includes the current track/sector, the
linked track/sector, and the current position
within the block and its data value.
3. At the bottom of the screen is information that
pertains to the disk itself. This includes the
disk name, drive type, and device number.
When a disk is first entered, the Directory
Header block will be read and shown. You may
manipulate blocks by activating one of the
following functions using the 'Disk' menu or the
equivelant keyboard shortcut.
Follow Link - go to the linked track/sector.
Next/Prior Block - go to next or prior sector.
Go to Block - go to user entered track/sector.
Recover (?) - re-read the current track/sector.
Change Disks - allows changing disks/drive.
Write Block - writes the current track/sector to
disk. You will be asked for verification.
The disk block may be shown on the screen
in one of 3 formats: Hex (the default), ASCII, or
a mixture of the two (all valide ASCII chars will
be printed in ASCII). The display format may be
changed using the keyboard shortcuts or by using
the 'Display' sub-menu under the 'Options' menu.
The current position will always be inverted
in the disk block display.
On the left of the screen: the current position
is displayed as a decimal offset into the block
and its value is displayed in decimal and ASCII.
The current positon may be moved either
by using the cursor keys or single clicking the
mouse button.
To change the value of a byte, double click
on the value in the disk block display screen.
You will be presented with a screen showing the
current value in Hex, Decimal, and ASCII and
will be asked to enter the new value. You may
enter the value in any of the above formats.
Decimal byte values use no prefix. Hex bytes
must be prefixed by a dollar sign ($). ASCII
text must be preceeded by a single quote (')
and may be up to 15 chars.
